Sphinx provided a maritime solution for the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC), a Government department in Christmas Islands, a country in the Caribbean islands. Sail Clear is an optional service available for use by yacht owners other pleasure craft operators who wish to submit their Customs declarations in the form of electronic notifications, prior to arrival in countries where the system is available. This facility enables registered users to access the system to enter and update notifications about their vessels, captain, crew and guests while transiting the Caribbean region.
About The Client
The Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) is a multilateral regional organization dedicated to improving the overall professionalism of its members. The CCLEC was established in the early 1970s as an informal association of Customs.
The Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC) wanted to create a central portal that would serve as a database for all information on the various marine vessels that pass through the country. The objective of this Portal is the exchange of information on smuggling and helping the smaller regional administrations to adjust to the new threat of organized drug trafficking through the region.
Sphinx Worldbiz was engaged in the development of the solution. After capturing and understanding the requirement, we proposed a solution to CCLEC that would help them mitigate risk on its ports by capturing data from the administrative departments as well as the travelers passing through the port.
As part of the solution, we developed two web-based portals -- 1 for Administration and the other for the users travelling to ports wherein they can notify the customs of their travel itinerary and based on this data, CCLEC assess the risks associated and developed strategies to mitigate the risk and threats.
